"The measure of intelligence is the ability to change."
— Albert Einstein
Meta-patterns of Humans + AI workflows
What are the patterns that bring together Humans and AI to create value? The framework below shows the elements of human-AI thinking and some of the higher-order structures in which they can be combined.
It was nice to appear on the front page of the Australian Financial Review (Australian equivalent of Wall Street Journal) for an article on AI education for business leaders. The piece shares details of leading AI courses, including my Building an AI Roadmap on LinkedIn Learning..

💡Framework: Meta-patterns of Humans + AI Thinking
I created this simple visual some time ago for the 'AI-Augmented Thinking & Decision-Making' courses I was running, guiding participants through how specifically to apply these approaches to their work.
I have been meaning to refine this outline to reflect how I have further developed the model before sharing. But it's probably better to share it as is and provide more advanced versions when I get there.
I have created a detailed explanation of each element and meta-pattern.

How LLMs are giving power to the people
AI doyen Andrej Karpathy has neatly laid out how genAI results in power to the people.
In short, LLMs massively empower individuals. Used well, they augment thinking and intentions to an extraordinary degree.
The impact is far more muted and delayed for large organizations, which have entrenched ways of working that will take years to shift through careful negotiation of culture and governance. Go to the links for the full argument.
GenAI is accelerating and improving M&A
Bain’s latest M&A survey show just 21% of M&A practitioners are using GenAI, with 16% planning to. But those leaders are reaping real benefits: 54% see accelerated timelines, 33% say reduced cost, and 79% report less manual effort.

Who will humans be in 2035? Experts on whether AI’s impact will be positive or negative
Humans and human cognition are evolving rapidly. We can't know who we will become, but there will be at minimum deep change, on balance negative, according to a survey of experts by Imagining the Digital Future Center.
