Humans + AI decision processes, signals of the future, AI for teachers, Ai that reflects, and more
“Many of the jobs created by the free market will grow out of a natural symbiosis between humans and machines. While AI handles the routine optimization tasks, human beings will bring the personal, creative, and compassionate touch.”
― Kai-Fu Lee
Humans + AI decision-making will be at the heart of our future. Better decisions will drive a better society, better allocation of capital, better organizations, and better lives. But that’s not easy to get to. Humans and AI each have distinct and complementary capabilities, and we are just beginning to map out some of ways we can best combine them.
One of the resources in this newsletter comes from a discussion in our Humans + AI Explorers Community. You can join for free if you’d like to engage directly in those conversations and see the thinking of our impressive members.

Mapping Humans + AI decision-making processes
In the Humans + AI Explorers Community top product leader Rawn Shah has mapped out in more detail each of the 10 levels from my “Levels of AI Delegation” from my Levels of AI delegation in decision-making framework.
There was a robust and interesting conversation in the community which includes a link to the full visual diagram of all 10 levels.
👩🤖Humans + AI update
Replit Agent creates and deploys apps from text prompts
This is pretty wild. Coding platform Replit has released (in Beta) Replit Agent, which allows you to create a full-blown deployable application including all code, using a simple text prompt. As I tried it out, it is clearly not quite a finished product, but it is still staggeringly good. This changes the game.
AI with zero errors on scientific literature reviews
Reliant claims that while GPT-4o can do a literature review of several thousand journal articles, it does so with 11% errors, whereas their product does so with zero errors.
UNESCO AI competence framework for teachers
A UNESCO report provides a detailed and solid competence framework for teachers at all levels.
New book on How Humans + Machines Will Co-Create a Better Future
“Tim Houlne’s The Intelligent Workforce: How Humans + Machines Will Co-Create a Better Future explores the transformative relationship between human creativity and machine intelligence, prescribing actions for navigating the technologies reshaping modern workplaces and industries. As AI and automation advance, Houlne explores how new job opportunities arise from this dynamic collaboration.”

Organizational Decision-Making Structures in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
A very interesting paper in California Management Review on Organizational Decision-Making Structures in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. provides an analysis of AI decision delegation related to the framework shared earlier in the newsletter.
The paper identifies 3 types of AI decision delegation, assessed across 6 characteristics:
🤖 Full Human to AI Delegation
🔄 Hybrid Sequential Decision-Making Structures
🧠 Aggregated Human–AI Decision-Making Structures
The paper is from 2019 but still very relevant.
