Better Humans + AI creativity, AI in boardrooms, 20 use cases for GPTs, and more

"The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am very much enjoying running my Maven AI-Enhanced Thinking & Decision-Making cohort course. The excellent quality of participants pushes us deeper and makes it a more powerful and enjoyable learning experience for all. The next cohort starts March 28, see below for an early bird discount.

The quality of thinking on boards of directors is one of the few biggest factors shaping business and society. Improving the collective cognition and decision-making of boards should be one of our highest priorities. In this week’s podcast with Paul Smith we dive deep into the future of boards and using AI in the boardroom.

Nonlinear collaboration for Humans + AI creativity

A recent paper "Understanding Nonlinear Collaboration between Human and AI Agents: A Co-design Framework for Creative Design" shares research on how humans and AI can best collaborate for creative outcomes.

Nonlinear collaboration allows exploring multiple ideas simultaneously, back-and-forth interaction, revising initial concepts based on new insights, and remixing elements for creative outcomes. Click on the image to see a summary of insights from the research.

👩🤖Humans + AI update

Sanofi’s CEO says AI could revolutionize drug discovery

“Through AI we are on the cusp of a great era of discovery that could fundamentally change the field of medicine.” But he points to challenges including regulation, pricing restrictions, access to capital, and constraints on clinical trial design.

Person can control mouse with mind using Neuralink

Elon Musk has said that the recent first human trial using Neuralink’s brain implant has been successful, and the patient can control a mouse with his thoughts. However this is fairly trivial in brain computer interfaces and there are concerns about transparency in its trials.

Applying AI to both exploration and exploitation in organizations

“While AI can play a role in new discoveries, skills such as judgement which are essential for exploration and innovation, are distinctly human.” London Business School professor Julian Birkinshaw on “organizational ambidexterity” in combining Humans and AI.

20 examples of GPTs to apply at work

“It’s become clear to me that everyone should be playing with GPTs (custom versions of ChatGPT) right now. It’s easy to think AI tools are a fad, too complicated, or unlikely to have real impact on your job. But you’re wrong.“

Product management guru Lenny Rachitsky has compiled 20 examples of how GPTs can be applied to work with immediate value.
