Advances in Humans + AI thinking, levels of AI delegation, the path to AGI, and more
“Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.” - David Allen
As the state of Humans + AI thinking rapidly evolves, the 4th cohort of my AI-Enhanced Thinking & Decision-Making course kicks off July 11. The course is being significantly redeveloped, given the extent of change and the progress of my work in the space.
Some of what's shifting in Humans + AI thinking and decision-making:
🧠 Increasing numbers of quality thinking-support GPTs and applets
📈 The latest iterations of the top models have advanced significantly in reasoning capabilities, changing the relative roles of humans and AI in complex processes
🤝 A recent significantly heightened focus on human-AI collaboration in the academic literature, with extensive empirical evidence on what works and what doesn't
🌍 Broadening familiarity with models, prompting, and use cases
🛠️ The rise of fairly sophisticated 'prompt assistant' tools
🚀 The rapid progress of AI agents and multi-agent systems
All of these add to the importance and relevance of Humans + AI thinking, they in no way decrease it.
The pace of AI advances means we must focus utterly on Humans + AI: augmenting and developing our capabilities using AI as far as possible . There is so much potential.
Hope you can join me on the course!- check it out.. Or please let others know how might be interested. 🙏

Levels of AI delegation in decision-making
Soon virtually every decision will involve AI. For every decision we make, the critical first step is to determine the level of AI delegation. And then select the specific Humans + AI architecture most appropriate to the decision.
The framework belwo is the latest iteration of the AI decision-making delegation frameworks I've been developing and using with clients, made concise for communication and easy digestion.
I’d love your comments and thoughts to help improve the next iteration, click on the link to share.
👩🤖Humans + AI update
Corporate GenAI adoption continues rising
A McKinsey study shows increasing adoption of GenAI across more business functions with greater value creation. Major areas of deployment include marketing, sales, product development, and IT.
Use of AI increases demands for worker flexibility
A study showed that introducing AI to work results in cognitive works expecting and demanding greater flexibility in their work. Workers need self-organization to fulfil their functions with the use of AI.
People skills matter more than ever with AI
LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky writes in Wired that a skills-first approach is needed, with people skills more important than ever.

Situational awareness: The path to AGI
AI safety researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, who was just fired by OpenAI, has released an ebook that explores the rapidly expanding capabilities of AI and the safety implications across a wide range of dimensions.
“AGI by 2027 is strikingly plausible,” he writes. “The AGI race has begun. We are building machines that can think and reason. By 2025/26, these machines will outpace college graduates. By the end of the decade, they will be smarter than you or I; we will have superintelligence, in the true sense of the word.”
